Children

Taken in Canumay West, Valenzuela, Manila, Philippines. During our community duty in this place, we had to prepare a seminar/program for the folks there. Furthermore, we have to assist the nurses in the health center in giving immunizations and admitting patients.

We had a chance to meet with the people there during our first visit. A short survey and mingling with the residents of the place were our firsts tasks. Some didn’t like us being there, while some patiently answered our questions.

On the last day of our duty, we conducted a seminar in their basketball court. Since I was in charge of making the handouts, I had a chance to mingle with the children there while my groupmates set up the place. At first, the kids were hesitant to go near me. But I guess, after awhile, they got used to what I was doing (I also had to take pictures for the group’s documentation later on). The child I first photographed was my favorite. I love her eyes.

I let her look at the viewfinder of my camera phone to see what shots she liked. The other kids got curious and in no time, they were fighting who I will photograph next. They were even calling me, “Ate, pitsuran mo kami!” And when I showed them their photos, they were so happy. Wherever I went, they would tag along with me. Much to the amusement of my groupmates.

I had a great time with them. Children are amazing.

I didn’t get much shots though… I had to do what I was supposed to do – photograph the seminar for the documentation.

This is my favorite photo.
